The last few weeks we have had visitors – parents and Jennybee. it was lovely to show people around the island again.
of course there is lots of photos on flickr (with more to come) but some highlights were
the whale spotting
Finding field mushrooms on a gorgeous walk from Europie to the Butt of Lewis (most north-westerly point in the UK), they were plentiful in supply so took a few home for our tea
sunbathing on Dal Mor beach – yes really we were sunbathing
2 agricultural shows – I’ve never admired so many sheep! or tasted such amazing BBQ salmon at the Lochs show and at the Westside show we were introduced to the delights of tea and cakes for £3 where ‘cake’ meant – pile your plate as high as you possibly could with as many home made cakes as you can balance and then eat them all!
Learning what waulking the tweed was
Being chased by a Highland cow whilst we were in the car and it was charging towards us
A local rather drunk fisherman entertaining us with throwing fish into the harbour for the local seals – and then inviting the HUGE seal into his tiny boat! he then did give us 12 mackerel for free!
Going to see Sex in the City with my best friend
