Cloudpurple and Mutley (and their dog Frank) are making a move from Bristol to the Isle of Lewis in May.
We’ve wanted to live on the islands for many years – why? well because of their remoteness, their raw beauty, the welcoming islanders and most importantly the fact that they offer a very different lifestyle to that you find in our cities.
So finally our plan has come to fruition. this blog is a diary of the challenges and joys we are sure we will face as we move from urban setting to rural idyll and find our way in a new community, looking for new jobs, a home and a community to be part of.

Hi
Please fill in the About page so we can have an idea who is actually having the adventure and coming to our island.

Welcome to Lewis. I hope it offers you just what you are looking for and that you will quickly settle in and become true islanders.
Best wishes.

Hello,
We’re about to make a similar relocation to Lewis, also after many years’ planning. I have been deluged with gifts of scarves since making this announcement! I’ve been gobbling up your blog and any others I can find, which only makes me more impatient! Still all being well we’ll be moved next month. So much to do…

how exciting – hope you enjoy it up here and you’ll be needing those scarves as long as you tie them on tight! good luck with the move

We are also contemplating such a move, have been researching it for some time now, and hope to travel out (look at houses and land) in April…
Your blog provides us with some really great insights!
Thanks
Alan

My husband Pete is winging his way up to Lewis as i write in our trusted old camper van along with the dog Dougie. We have been planning to move up to Lewis for some years and are finally looking for a plot of land which we, or rather Pete can build a house on. Your blog is giving us a real insight to the island beyond what we already know. Just hope we can move our plans one step further after this visit. Thanks for a great blog

Hi
Do you have any pics of damage caused by last night’s tornado?
We’d be delighted to sell them to the national papers if you have any.
Please let me know.
Cheers
Rod
